What is Cool CAT?
Cool CAT (CAT=Cultured Artsy Toddler) provides Newark preschool families access to FREE quality programs in the areas of arts, literacy, food and science. In our first year, parents were awarded points for attending events, good student attendance and parent participation and engagement. Points are redeemed for prizes such as family photography sessions, gift cards for groceries and restaurants and more!
Cool CAT debuts with the help and support of Newark Public Schools: Office of Early Childhood, United Way of Essex & West Hudson and Newark Arts. Cool CAT events are:
- Age Appropriate
- Diverse and include art, dance, theater, music, cooking and more!
- A partnership with Newark’s best institutions.
Cool CAT is lead by Newark Mompreneur, Tamara Remedios (Newark resident, Newark mom and community marketer). The idea was inspired by New York’s Cool Culture Pass which provides free access to New York’s cultural institutions. While Newark may not have hundreds of museums and galleries – it does have strong cultural roots and amazing organizations! Tamara is a 20+ community marketer coordinating city-wide restaurant weeks, shop local campaigns, publications & websites, street festivals and more! After becoming a mother, she took these skills to engage Newark’s families with the amazing cultural institutions and birthed Cool CAT!
