  • Read together every day.
Enjoy some cuddle time and read to your child daily.
  • Give everything a name.
Build the child’s vocabulary by saying the name for all objects. For example, “Look at that door, see the windows and handle. What do you do with a handle?”
  • Have fun reading.
Use different voices and add humor, sounds and expressions to appeal to your child.
  • Be interactive.
Discuss what’s happening in the book and point to things and ask questions about the images.
  • Know when to stop.
If you child loses interest put the book away for awhile and come back to it later.

If you have concerns about your child’s language development, hearing or sight, please share with your child’s teacher and pediatrician.
